IWSG #3!

Good grief, is it really that time of the month again?! Scary how much time flies...

Well, I'll keep this short and sweet - I was going to use this post as an opportunity to have a huge rant/grumble/complain (no change there then), but then I thought that I'll keep this post specific to the wonderful IWSG and write another post later :).

So, as you might be aware, I'm aiming on having a first draft of my manuscript completed by the 19th June. And I really did not think about how close that date actually is!! The main thing that I'm worried about at the moment is not finishing it, or losing my enthusiasm for the whole project, which I really don't want to do - I really want to finish this novel and see where I can go from there! I haven't been able to work on it as much as I would have liked too lately, as I've been in Norfolk - I'm back in Oxford now, but this is just a flying visit before we set off up to the great wide yonder that is Cumbria for the rest of the week....which leaves me a week and a half to write about 100,000 words...hmm...

So my plan is this - to keep writing down notes and ideas whenever I can, and when I get back from Cumbria (or maybe today actually, don't think we have any plans this afternoon) I'm going to stick on The Dark Knight in the background for inspiration while I feverishly write. Hopefully everything will go okay!

Can't wait to go and read the rest of the IWSG posts! The Insecure Wruter's Support Group was set up by the wonderful Alex. J. Cavanaugh - you can find the link to the whole group and an explanation of the rules below:

Have a great day, everyone!

  1. LOL, I am nervous about writing 50,000 in a month, and you've given yourself less than two weeks to write twice that much!

It's been a busy month for you, but as long as you keep writing when you can, you'll get there in the end!

    1. Ahh, thank you so much for your support! Gonna be honest - it's looking likely that I won't finish it completely now :(, but I'm going to do my very best and even if it's not complete, I'll have a pretty good draft anyway! I think your plan sounds much more sensible lol!

  2. I'm visiting from the IWSG.
Wow! 100,000 words in one week! That's amazing! It sounds like you have it all worked out!
Good luck with the 19th June deadline for your 1st draft!

    1. Hi Michelle :)! Thanks for popping over! Haha, well that's the plan...but to be honest, I'm never very good at sticking to plans that I make, but I'll try my best :)!

  3. So did you go to the interview?

Re. June 19th: Fantastic for you for being so ambitious. I'm a strong believer in making plans and setting deadlines, but being brave enough to give yourself a little deadline extension if you have good reason.

    1. Hi Ali!
Ahh, no I didn't - but I had a good(ish) reason - I've been constantly ill for the last week, and as I was in no state to research the company and get my answers together, I decided to cut my losses and not go. I still wonder if I should have just gone anyway, but what;s done is done I guess lol!
Thank you :)! I have a feeling that I may have to extend this deadline - like I said, I have been pretty ill, and at the moment my motivation just isn't happening! However, I'll keep going, and hopefully I'll have a respectable amount of work done by 19th June anyway :)!

I love chatting and meeting new people :). Thanks for stopping by!
